Scarborough Cinema

Scarborough Cinema Information

There is only one Scarborough cinema at the moment. The only cinema in Scarborough is called Hollywood Plaza and is located at 159 North Marine Road. This is not too far away from the town centre, North Marine Road is where the cricket ground is located just off Castle Road. Just follow the link to find out what movies this cinema is showing at the moment.

The Hollywood Plaza Scarborough Cinema

I am going to be honest with you here. It is not the best cinema you will ever go to, it is a little run down. If we go to the Cinema with our two boys we will travel to The Forum Cinema in Bridlington, follow the link for movie listings and times.

Other cinemas close to Scarborough in Yorkshire that are only a short drive away include the Vue Cinema in York and the Show Case Cinema in Middlesbrough.

The MCcarthy Cinema Scarborough is located at the Stephen Joseph Theatre but does not show movies on a regular basis. It is an add on to the theatre itself.

I am sad to inform you that the Futurist Scarborough cinema no longer exists and that the Hollywood Plaza is the only option in town for regular showings.

The Hollywood Plaza Scarborough Cinema

To contact The Hollywood Plaza phone you can call 01723 507567. Their postcode is YO12 7HU.

Adults are £7, OAPs and students are £6 (proof required) and children under the age of 14 are also £6.

This is a one screen cinema, so do check what is showing before you go because there is no choice when you get there.

It is worth noting that the cinema in Bridlington has 3 screens with a bit more choice on offer.

Are there plans for a new Scarborough cinema?

The good news is that there are plans for a new Scarborough cinema, which will be located in the current North Street car park next to the Opera House Casino.

The plans submitted for North Street are for a 5 screen cinema. There are rumours of a new 7 to 8 screen cinema to be located at The Sands Development on the North side of Scarborough, where Atlantis used to be.

At the end of the day, which ever one wins out we are going to get a new multiplex cinema in Scarborough at some point not too far in the future.
