The largest Scarborough arcade has a ten-pin bowling alley and an indoor soft play area, this arcade is called Olympia Leisure. The Olympia Leisure arcade is located on the south side Scarborough beach.
Scarborough has many arcades that run along Foreshore Road next to the south bay beach. The Olympia Leisure arcade is the last arcade on the road as you walk towards the Scarborough Spa Complex.
If you are going to the south side Scarborough beach then at some point in the day you are bound to end up in the arcades. There’s something for everyone at Scarborough’ south bay.
Olympia Leisure Arcade in Scarborough
If you plan to visit the Olympia Leisure arcade in Scarborough then there is ample parking at the South Bay Underground Car Park and along Valley Road, this road leads down to the south bay beach.
To park in a Scarborough council car park near to the south bay beach and the Olympia Leisure arcade it will cost you £1.50 for one hour, £2 for two hours, £4 for six hours and £5 for 24 hours. Prices vary slightly depending on which car park you use.
The Olympia Leisure arcade is open all year round from 9am onwards and has a large selection of games and machines to use, there’s something in there for everyone.
The Olympia Leisure arcade has a 12-lane ten-pin bowling alley overlooking the south bay in Scarborough. Have a game of bowling and take in the views across Scarborough as you play; the prices are very reasonable at £4.95 per person per game.
Olympia Leisure arcade have a soft play area called Percy Parrots, our kids love to go there after a walk across the south bay. Percy Parrots is £3 per child and is well worth the money, parents can sit next to the play area having a coffee while keeping an eye on the kids.
On the same floor as the Percy Parrots soft play area there is a small karting track, it costs £1 per ride and adults can ride with the kids. Our kids were 4 and 2 years old the last time we went to the karting track and both were able to drive the cars themselves.
The Olympia Leisure arcade has a bar and a cafe, you can sit in the bar and enjoy the view across the south bay, you will be able to see the Scarborough castle and watch the ships coming in and out of Scarborough harbour.
If you are up and out early then the cafe at the Olympia Leisure arcade do all day breakfasts as well as a variety of meals and snack for the kids. There are loads of kids rides and video games that the whole family will enjoy at Olympia Leisure.

If you where to walk to the right of this photo of Scarborough Foreshore Road you would see the road that leads up to Scarborough Town Centre. Past this road is another selection of cafes and arcades, which lead up to the amusement park.
If you head past all the arcades and the amusement park you come to a path that leads up to Scarborough castle and then the Marine Drive. The Marine Drive links the south side beach to the north side beach.
An idea for a day out in Scarborough
If you have kids then you are bound to have a great day out at Scarborough’ south bay. Head for the south bay and park in the Scarborough council underground car park (postcode for satnav YO11 2HD). The underground car park is a very short walk away from the Olympia Leisure arcade.
If you are heading into Scarborough from the south then the south bay underground car park is right off the roundabout that is opposite the Rotunda museum which will be on your left. If you are heading from the north into Scarborough then you will need to travel along the Foreshore Road to the end and go straight across the roundabout towards the Scarborough Spa, the south bay underground is a sharp right turn after the roundabout.
When you have parked up head over the road to the Olympia Leisure arcade, have a coffee and let the kids run wild in the soft play area. When you have finished in the Olympia Leisure arcade walk along Foreshore Road and stop off in some of the other arcades.
When you get half way along Foreshore Road you will come to the Harbour Bar, a 1940s/50s style ice cream parlour. The kids will love it in here; stop off again for a coffee and an ice cream for the kids.
Leave the Harbour Bar and continue your walk up Foreshore Road, stop off in a few more of the arcades and then get some fish ‘n’ chips for lunch.
After lunch continue south up Foreshore Road towards the amusement park, stop off here or have a walk along the pier. If you have enough time have a walk round the Marine Drive and have a look at the North Bay beach.
Head back to the car with a walk across the south bay beach back towards the south bay underground car park. Before going back to the car you could go back to the Olympia Leisure arcade for one last drink or a game of bowling before you head home.
