Things to do while on holiday in Scarborough

The south side Scarborough beach offers the arcades and the amusement park. A day at the south side Scarborough beach is a must for any holiday in Scarborough.

Not only will you spend hours on the south side beach but your kids will spend hours in the amusements. You can do ten pin bowling in the large arcade located under the Grand Hotel or visit the soft play area.

The soft play area costs £3 per child for 1-hour play; this is a must if you have smaller children. If you are looking for a larger indoor play area while on holiday in Scarborough then there is a place called Little Hoppers.

Adults have free entry to Little Hoppers with each paying child, child prices differ depending on the age of the child but it is about £4.75. Little Hoppers is based on the outskirts of Scarborough and is near Morrisons Supermarket and McDonalds.

Little Hoppers is located in Eastfield and the postcode for your satnav is YO11 3YS. It will take about 5 to 10 mins to drive to car from Scarborough town centre. If you have younger children then you should definitely make Little Hoppers part of your holiday in Scarborough.

There are many crazy golf courses based in Scarborough, there is a good pirate themed one based at the SeaLife Centre. You could tie in a day at the SeaLife Centre with a round of pirate crazy golf. Again if you have kids you have to visit the SeaLife Centre while on holiday in Scarborough.

You can see the SeaLife Centre from the north side Scarborough beach where all the chalets are based; it is a short walk from the beach. You have a lovely view of Scarborough Castle from the North Bay, which is another place to visit while on holiday in Scarborough.

There is lots of parking in and around the north and south side Scarborough beach, the council car parks will cost you £5 for 24 hours parking. If you are on holiday in Scarborough it may be worthwhile buying a permit if you plan to use a lot of the Scarborough Council car parks, it might save you some money.

I have mentioned a lot of stuff to do while on holiday in Scarborough for younger kids so here is one for the older ones. We have Karting in Scarborough, this is based near the Little Hoppers soft play area that we mentioned earlier in Eastfield and their postcode is Y011 3UT for your sat nav.

Go Karting in Scarborough costs from £15 to £50 depending on your age and how long you want to spend on the track. This is a must if you are on holiday in Scarborough and you have teenage children, they will love it.

If you are on holiday in Scarborough towards the back end of the season in late September early October then you may catch Scarborough fair. This is a must for any age group, they have rides for the younger ones too.

Peasholm Park hosts the naval warfare, which is a 30-minute battle around the lake. If your holiday in Scarborough is in August then you can catch the battle on a Monday, Thursday or Saturday.

If you plan to do some surfing while you are on holiday in Scarborough then Cayton beach is the place for you. Cayton beach has its own surf school so if its something you have wanted to do why not have a go while on holiday in Scarborough.

A night out in Scarborough should always be on the agenda when you are on holiday in Scarborough. There are some great local bands on display playing all kinds of music. Head to St Nicholas Street for all the great bars and clubs.

If you are a fan of Car boot sales and love a bargain then you should visit the Lebberston Market and car boot sale when you are on holiday in Scarborough. It’s only a 5-10 min drive from Scarborough (Y011 3PB For your satnav) and is on every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from 1st April to mid October depending on weather conditions.

If you are spending some time of your holiday in Scarborough at the south side beach then you may want to book to go on a boat tour. There’s many to choose from including a ride on the Regal Lady, The Hispaniola (pirate ship) or a choice of speedboats that operate from the south side harbour.

If you fancy doing some sport while you are on holiday in Scarborough then you should visit the Scarborough Sports Centre that is on Filey Road. If you feel the need to keep fit while on holiday in Scarborough then have a game of tennis or visit the sport centre’s gym.

If you are staying in a hotel in Scarborough that doesn’t have a pool and you want to do some swimming on your holiday in Scarborough then the indoor pool is based near the north side beach on Ryndle Crescent.

Towns to visit while on holiday in Scarborough

While on holiday in Scarborough you have to make a visit to Whitand Bridlington. Whitand Bridlington are only a short drive away from Scarborough and are lovely seaside resorts.

You have the complete package for a great seaside holiday when you come on holiday in Scarborough because you not only have what Scarborough has to offer but what Whitand Bridlington have too. And if you have enough time while on holiday in Scarborough you should check out Filey too.

As we don’t have an indoor pool yet in Scarborough that has slides and a wave pool we have to go to Bridlington for this. Bridlington is a great day out for the kids and is a must for a great holiday in Scarborough. Whithas the Abbey to visit and its two wonderful beaches and Bridlington has the Leisure Park and two great beaches. While on holiday in Scarborough you should take a day trip to these two towns that are so close to Scarborough.

Where to eat while on holiday in Scarborough

You will be spoilt for choice for places to eat while on holiday in Scarborough. Our kids love Italian food, their favourite food being Pizza and chips like most kids.

We can always get our kids to eat all their dinner when we go to Florios pizzeria restaurant, go to their website to view their menu. Florios is located on Aberdeen Walk, which is just off Scarborough’ town centre.

If you don’t want to go to a restaurant and you are looking for a good take away food outlet while on holiday in Scarborough then we (our kids eat everything every time) recommend Pizza Tempo, which can be found on Falsgrave Road.

Where to shop while on holiday in Scarborough

If you want to spend a day shopping while on holiday in Scarborough then you won’t be disappointed. The town centre boasts some good coffee shops to take the weight off after a hard days shopping. Roasters is our favourite; they have two shops in the town centre and one at the south bay beach.

While on holiday in Scarborough you should definitely have a look round the Brunswick Shopping Centre. Here you will find all the well-known stores like Argos, Debenham’s, Top Man, Toymaster and many more.

Head on further down the town and you will find all the little novelty shops that lead down to the south side beach where you will be able to buy all your souvenirs of your holiday in Scarborough.
